The Hills Are Alive…..

Anyone who’s been a part of LIBA and has seen the Worldspace ad with the prodigious A.R. Rehman will see the connect immediately…there really is music everywhere! All around us…just take a minute to be still and listen….or go ahead and join in creating it and be heard. That’s what life at LIBA is about!

Searching for a muse and a point of inspiration for this post I read the posting info at the beginning of this blog and found the lines “Anyone who has withstood the LIBA grind and come out successful or is enduring it now can post.” a bit misleading…LIBA and life on this beautiful campus is not just about survival or mere existence…its about Excellence..Not just striving, running around or a work overload, but achieving what we’re striving towards, doing things, getting things done and enjoying the ride while we’re on it.

The beautiful Julie Andrews in her role as Baroness Maria von Trapp in the classic Sound of Music sang “The hills are alive with the sound of music” but those words ring true here in LIBA too. Though there aren’t any hills in sight for miles around, the campus is just as beautiful and the people on it more so, making it an amazing place to be. The sounds of music do resound even in the most routine moments on campus right from the murmurs of quiet good mornings and the rustle of newspapers as early in the morning as 7 a.m. to the inquisitive queries that follow their own pace in lecture after lecture…

From the almost religious chant of “Anna chapatti anna!!” at the canteen during the lunch hour to the feverish excitement and suggestions at committee discussions for any one of the numerous events being organized on campus. From happy though sometimes off-key renditions of Happy Birthday to the loud cheering at events like the “Dhahi Handi” on Gokul Ashtami…From the noisy clanking of keyboards in the browsing centre to the almost audible tension in the lab when project prints are due…the campus truly is alive with the sounds of life! LIBA is not just about withstanding the grind, but defining your own grind making it more challenging as the days start to roll into each other and creating a beautiful musical symphony of sorts that demands a standing ovation…so go ahead pick your instrument of choice…LIBA is alive with the sound of music!

P.S.: This is just a disclaimer to let the general public know that any images you happen to see of anyone on campus supposedly dozing off during class has been digitally modified and altered and does not in anyway reflect the almost hyperactive energy levels of the students here!!

I must agree with the chants of ANNA CHAPPATI ANNA but there are other chants I do not wish to share here. Well done Chrissy! Keep up the good work!
